God the Creator

"And he shall judge among the nations, and shall rebuke many people: and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more." Isaiah 2:4

These are hard truths the world does not want us to know or believe.

Isaiah 2

Our foolish hearts, that we would seek creation (aka 'the Universe') to do only what God has the power and authority to do.

God's desire and ultimate goal:

peace

for us to walk with Him - He want us! He wants to spend time with us! He's the ultimate best friend!being able to teach us

for us to walk in His paths

that He would reign over us (because He knows what is best for us)

"...the LORD alone shall be exalted..." Isaiah 2:11

God's glory. Only to God should we give glory and exaltation. He is a jealous God and will not share it with any man or anything man created.

"...for the fear of the LORD and for the glory of His majesty." Isaiah 2:10

God, the Creator, created us for the purpose of:

fellowship with Him and only Him

exalting Him

fearing Him

glorifying Him

Does not the Creator of all--the One whom we live and breath and have our existence in--not deserve this from us?
If we worship the things we've created,...how backwards is that? Can they give us anything past the immediate use?

If we worship the creation ('the Universe', the trees, the seas, etc.) and attribute to it the things we owe to God, Who created it all, how foolish is that? Creation's power and gifts are directed by it's Creator, used by it's Creator, given to it by it's Creator. Why not bypass those which have no power to give us our requests and go to the One who has the authority to grant us what we desire?

Fact is, we want to be in control, and so we make things to do our will, fashion things to excuse us from obeying God to cover our sins. Refusing to acknowledge the Holy, Supreme Being, the Perfect and Righteous God, because then we'd have to humble ourselves and admit our sin is wrong, is contrary to the laws God has established so that we could know Him and know His true nature.

Isaiah 3

All the things and people that would benefit us, He may remove because they work or speak or do against Him.

"And the people shall be oppressed, every one by another, and every one by his neighbour: the child shall behave himself proudly against the ancient, and the base against the honourable." Isaiah 3:5

[Wow! does this not sound like our world today? Just look at the riots and Seattle's Capital Hill Organization Protest (CHOP)]

"For Jerusalem is ruined, and Judah is fallen: because their tongue and their doings are against the LORD, to provoke the eyes of his glory." Isaiah 3:8

How much like our country today.

Oh LORD, help us. Turn us to You, send a revival, and draw many, if not all, to You.
Lord, forgive me for my own failings, for chasing after things I've put ahead of You.
Keep my heart and my thoughts clear before You so that I might know the depths of Your love and experience the joy of Your presence in my life.

Thank you for showing me Your heart.

Thank you for declaring to me Your desire.

Thank you for drawing me to You.

"Yea, I will rejoice over them to do them good, and I will plant them in this land assuredly with my whole heart and with my whole soul. For thus saith the LORD Like as I have brought all this great evil upon this people, so will I bring upon them all the good that I have promised them." Jeremiah 32:41-42
